Обзор

This study aims to assess medication adherence and the appropriateness of prescribed medications among patients admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). The study will use the Medication Appropriateness Index (MAI) to evaluate the suitability of prescribed medications and the Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) to assess patients' beliefs and perceptions regarding their medications. Understanding medication adherence and related beliefs may help identify factors associated with inappropriate medication use and non-adherence in hospitalized cardiac patients. The findings of this study may contribute to improving medication management and patient care in the CCU setting.

This is a cross-sectional observational study conducted in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). The study evaluates medication adherence and the appropriateness of prescribed medications among hospitalized cardiac patients. Medication appropriateness is assessed using the Medication Appropriateness Index (MAI), and patients' beliefs about medicines are assessed using the Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ). Data are collected through medical record review and patient interviews during hospitalization. The study involves no intervention or modification of routine clinical care.

Критерии участия

Критерии включения

  • Adult patients aged 18 years or older
  • Diagnosed with atrial fibrillation or heart failure
  • Admitted to the coronary care unit
  • Clinically stable at the time of interview
  • Able to provide informed consent

Критерии исключения

  • Significant cognitive impairment
  • Communication difficulties preventing interview
  • Diagnosed psychiatric disorder interfering with participation
