Effect of Climate Changes Educational Program on Knowledge, Attitude, and Reported Preventive Practices Among Low Risk Pregnant Women
Overview
Climate changes are the term used to describe the gradual rise in global temperatures, mostly accelerated by human activities. Climate changes are severe health emergency and considered the biggest threat to global health in the 21st century, which impacts on human health and the environment. Climate changes are a major global health concern that has become a top priority on the global health agenda
Detailed description
Extreme heat can overwhelm thermo-regulatory mechanisms in pregnant women, especially during labor, cause dehydration and endocrine dysfunction, and compromise placental function. Clinical sequel includes hypertensive disorders, gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and stillbirth
Interventions
- Behavioral climate change educational program
A structured educational program about climate change and its effects on pregnancy. The program consists of two educational sessions supported by PowerPoint presentations and an educational booklet to improve pregnant women's knowledge and preventive practices.
Primary outcome measures
- Climate Change Knowledge Score [Time frame: 1 month after the educational program]
- Climate Change Attitude Score [Time frame: 1 month after educational program]
- Reported Prevented Practice Score [Time frame: 1 month after the educational program]
Eligibility criteria
Inclusion criteria
- Low risk pregnant women (primigravida or multigravida)
- In their mid-pregnancy
Exclusion criteria
- patient refuse participation on the study
